	<description>
Scared Straight
At Debt Relief Belief, we see the darker side of the credit card. We know that it is very useful and necessary for things like emergencies, but when you work in our field, you tend to see more statistics and bad news than smiles. This is the portion of our website where we use the "Scared-Straight" approach to list statistics in hopes of terrifying folks into respecting their credit cards.

  Average amount of unpaid credit card debt (for families who have it) is $12,000
  Amount credit card companies made on late fees in 2003: $7.7 billion
  The average amount of consumer debt per person stands at $7,100

Don't become a statistic
With so much information online, and with so much credit counseling and debt relief, it is mind boggling how many people still suffer from credit card debt. We understand that some credit card expenses are unavoidable, like medical bills and student loans, but for the rest of the bills piling up, there is simply no excuse.

We are going to give you the do's and don'ts of the credit card industry one last time. Hopefully you will write them down, commit them to memory, or staple them to your forehead. First and foremost, shop around for your credit card. Never take the first offer because that's how t=you get suckered. Shop around for the lowest interest rates you can find. Also, research and find out which cards offer the best benefits and advantages.

Also, never pay the minimum on credit cards. We know it can be tempting, but paying the minimum just means the interest is going to sneak up on you and when you receive the next statement, it will appear as if you barely made a dent. You need to learn better habits before you become a bona-fide bad credit credit card user. Do yourself a favor and browse the rest of our pages for more information, household tips, and leads on how to make credit work for you, or how to initiate the credit card consolidation that might just end up saving your life.
